Success for Dan Evans at second tier event in Canada

British No 3s Dan Evans and Johanna Konta reached their respective finals at the Vancouver Open in Canada.

Both Evans and Konta will face home players in their title-deciding matches at the second-tier Pro Circuit event.

And, because of rain delays earlier in the tournament, both Brits had to play two matches on Saturday.

First, world No 248 Evans beat Olivier Rochus of Belgium 6-4 6-2 before enjoying another straight sets victory over American Bobby Reynolds 6-3 6-4.

In the women's singles, world No 147 Konta ousted Ukrainian Marina Zanevska 6-1 6-3 and she later experienced two contrasting sets in defeating Japan's Kurumi Nama 7-6 6-0.

In Sunday's finals, Evans takes on Vasek Pospisil, while Sharon Fichman will be Konta's opponent.
