Missouri University Honors Wiccan Holidays

The University of Missouri has placed Wiccan and Pagan holidays in the same league as Christmas, Hanukah, and Thanksgiving, Fox News reports.

?It?s beyond political correctness,?? radio host Tammy Bruce tells Fox.

According to Fox, a school faculty publication called ?Guide to Religions: Major Holidays and Suggested Accommodations? lists eight Wiccan and Pagan holidays and events next to well-established ones.

One is Samhain, a Pagan and Wiccan celebration that honors ?ancestors, family members, elders of the faith, friends, pets, and other loved ones? who have died. The holiday coincides with Halloween.

Wiccan beliefs focus on witchcraft and the afterlife.

According to the Fox News report, the holiday guide listings are part of the school's effort "to include everyone's beliefs, although some critics say listing every holiday associated with fringe belief systems is a bit much."

But the school told Fox that no complaints have been received in connection to the guide.
