Crossfit Balboa

What do you use your fitness for? During our little adventure to the Southern Hemisphere, Luke and I were able to experience some things a little out of the box for us. One of those said adventures was, River Surfing. The sport or recreation is fairly simple and I imagine can be compared to a combination of tubing and white water rafting with less drinking than tubing. The premise, you grab some fins, some protective gear and a body board, jump yourself into the river and let the current smack you both into your fellow travelers and hidden rocks. The tour guides spend the entire time yelling at you to turn left, than as soon as you kick yourself away from the rocks you then are instructed to turn to the right, then left, I bet you can get the picture. All while you are kicking down the river worrying about hidden dangers and trying to follow the directions of the guides, you are confronted with all sorts of foreigners, whom may or may not have ever seen the water or worn fins in the water. So you do not have to use your imagination, you basically get kicked in the face and or landed upon by everyone over and over again. Before you dont think it was not majestic and an amazing experience this explanation was from the first 5k run down the river.

Now the second run was still filled with flippers in the face but was much more relaxed as we learned to listen to the instructors and relax. Like anything, a little experience made all the difference. We were much more relaxed, even were able to do a little surfing, whirlpool riding, and a little something called ?squirting.? Not that kind of squirting, google it, it was fun and scary. Can you all guess where I am coming from with this metaphor. Once we learned to stop fighting the current, listen to the guides, and were able to relax, we were able to experience the trip much more positively. As you can see the water is quite beautiful as to was the surrounding land that the river helped mold. If this is you, fighting against the current, let go, relax and allow yourself to experience your surroundings. Who knows you might just feel better.
