CORPUS CHRISTI (July 12, 2013)--At least three people were taken to hospitals Friday after an early morning house explosion.
The house was destroyed in the explosion shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday in Corpus Christi and at least two adjacent homes were heavily damaged.
Fire officials said other homes as far as three blocks away sustained broken windows and other damage.
Authorities think all three of the victims were in the house when it exploded.
Their injuries were critical, authorities said.
Heavy smoke billowed from the home as emergency crews responded to the neighborhood near the city's south side.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the explosion.
Utility workers cut gas and electric service to the neighborhood as a precaution.
